Brutal Yet Beautiful Day One

Today was tough. The picture above was taken on the summit of our climb through the Pyrenees mountain range. We are beat. And we still have another seven miles to go before we are finished with this first day walk. It was brutal, and yet it was beautiful too.

A Little Help From Our Friends

The views were beautiful, especially all the sheep scenes, so peaceful. And no fences, which was interesting to me. Also, we continually heard the sound of cow bells, on sheep, horses, and of course, cows. Wonderful sound.

But what was especially beautiful was our friends. They are beautiful is almost every way. The fact is that Sally and I would have made it without help, but our friends did help. And it made a huge difference in our day. They encouraged us, waited for us, helped carry one of our packs. And probably most important they laughed with us, long and hardy. And it is true, I think, laughter is the best medicine.

So that is all for today. My laptop is funky. I will post tonight if possible.

Again, thank you for your encouraging words. We are being stretched here, which is what we wanted.

Hi Guys, well done on day one. Reading the blog today prompted me to read back to the first one where you said this is what we are going to do. I enjoyed them all, unrolling the story backwards has its own charm.

It makes me think how often this is how we tell our tale, a series of and before thats that helps us explain how we got to where we are. As we travel backwards we can see how we accumulated so much baggage and at the same time mentally relieve ourselves as we off load it piece by piece. When we finally get back to the start we can also see what baggage we started out with, inherited from our parents and their parents and so on. Off-loading that can be a whole life’s work for some people.

I thank you for prompting this stream of thought that only emerged as I am writing. You see, we are all with you on your journey, moving forward in our own journeys when we take the time to be present with you.

    Bless you both,

    Mike

I will be following your journey. You both left such a meaningful impact and impression upon both Steve and me and we hope this journey, though taxing, will be all you desire it to be. I am sure your will be awestruck, inspired and motivated to find meaning and faith in it all.
